Our Story

How ChainLedger Academy began

ChainLedger Academy was founded in 2021 by a group of researchers, technologists, and educators who recognised a gap in publicly available blockchain education. Much of the information online at the time was either heavily promotional, technically inaccessible, or entangled with financial product marketing. We wanted to create something different.

Our founding team had backgrounds spanning distributed systems research at Imperial College London, technology journalism, and financial regulation at King's College London. The common thread was a belief that the underlying technology behind digital assets deserved to be explained on its own terms, separate from market speculation and investment narratives.

Based at our office on Queen Victoria Street in the City of London, we began publishing our first educational guides in the summer of 2021. Since then, we have expanded our library to cover topics from basic cryptography and wallet security to consensus mechanisms, token standards, and evolving regulatory frameworks in the United Kingdom and beyond.

Today, ChainLedger Academy serves as a knowledge resource for students, professionals, journalists, and anyone curious about how distributed ledger technology works. We remain fully independent, with no commercial partnerships or affiliations with any blockchain project, exchange, or financial services provider.

To provide clear, accurate, and accessible educational content about blockchain technology and digital assets, enabling individuals to understand these topics on their own terms without being subjected to commercial pressure or promotional bias.

Objectivity

We present both the potential applications and the limitations of blockchain technology. Our content avoids promotional language and does not endorse, recommend, or criticise any particular project, token, or platform.

Transparency

We disclose our sources, name our authors, date every publication, and explain our editorial process openly. If we correct an error, we note the correction clearly on the affected page.

Accessibility

Complex topics should not require a computer science degree to understand. We write in plain English, define technical terms, and structure content so that beginners and advanced learners both find value.

Independence

Every factual claim in our content must be verifiable against at least one primary source. Primary sources include official protocol documentation, peer-reviewed academic papers, government publications, and statements from recognised standards bodies. If a claim cannot be independently verified, it is either removed or clearly labelled as opinion or analysis.

Neutral and balanced language

We do not use superlatives, promotional adjectives, or persuasive language when describing blockchain technology or digital assets. Phrases such as "revolutionary," "game-changing," or "the future of finance" are not permitted. When covering a technology's potential benefits, we also address its known limitations, criticisms, and open questions.

No financial recommendations

Under no circumstances do we advise readers on whether to buy, sell, hold, or trade any cryptocurrency, token, NFT, or other digital asset. Our content does not include price predictions, market analysis, portfolio suggestions, or comparisons framed in terms of potential returns. Every article carries a clear disclaimer stating this.

We cite our sources directly within articles. Where data or statistics are referenced, we provide the original source, the date it was published, and, where possible, a direct link. We prioritise subjects where there is a clear gap in accessible, unbiased educational material. Our editorial calendar is reviewed monthly and is not influenced by any external organisation.

Our subject-matter researchers consult primary sources including official protocol whitepapers, academic journals (such as those published by IEEE and ACM), government regulatory documents from bodies like the FCA and HM Treasury, and technical specifications from standards organisations. We cross-reference multiple independent sources for every key claim.

Drafting

The assigned researcher writes the initial draft, structuring content for logical flow and accessibility. Technical terms are defined on first use. The draft is written in plain English, avoiding jargon wherever possible. Every factual statement is accompanied by a source reference in the draft notes.

Fact-Checking

A separate team member verifies every factual claim against the cited sources. Numerical data, dates, technical specifications, and regulatory references are individually confirmed. If a source is no longer accessible, the claim is either re-sourced from an alternative primary reference or removed.

Our senior editor reviews the fact-checked draft for tone, neutrality, and readability. This review specifically checks for any language that could be perceived as promotional, persuasive, or constituting financial advice. Content that fails the neutrality check is returned for revision.

Once approved, the article is published with full author attribution, publication date, and source references. Published content enters our quarterly review cycle, where it is re-evaluated for accuracy in light of new developments. Reader feedback and correction requests are reviewed within five business days.
